BRYAN COUNTY, Okla. -- Emergency responders in Bryan County held a training session Saturday afternoon aimed at handling severe weather situations.
Those who attended learned everything from spotting storms to handling law enforcement, the media and the rest of the emergency management community. At the end of the day, everyone participated in an exercise in which they re-created a severe storm from this past May.
Organizers say the event is to make sure those who help the Bryan County emergency management center learn each aspect of the operation.
KXII Chief Meteorologist Steve LaNore helped out in the training, which officials say, will go a long way in the future.
"I’m trying to give them all aspects of what actually occurs during an emergency or during a bad weather outbreak," said Director James Dalton.
The event was held at the Durant Emergency Operations Center on Evergreen.
