Splash park closing for season

SHERMAN --Today was the last opportunity for kids to enjoy the new splash park in Sherman. The gates closed at six o'clock Monday night for the summer.

The water park has seen a lot of foot traffic everyday since opening Memorial Day weekend. More than 800 area kids came out today for their last chance on the water slides. It was even hard to find a place to park.

"We're sad that summer is over but were looking forward to some time off and looking forward to next Memorial day,” says Theresa Hutchinson, the splash park recreation coordinator.

Parks and recreation officials expect the same kind of crowds next year. The splash pad is scheduled to open back up at the end of May 2008.
