MARSHALL COUNTY, Okla. -- Federal authorities approved Marshall County for individual disaster assistance on Thursday that covers flood damage from June and July storm. Back in July, Oklahoma Congressman Tom Cole visited Marshall County to see flood damage first hand.

After speaking with county and city leaders during his visit, Cole said he would work with FEMA officials and Governor Brad Henry to try and get assistance for the county.

Under the individual assistance designation, business owners can apply for low interest loans through the U.S. Small Business Administration to repair and replace damaged property.

Officials from Congressman Cole's office say they're glad they could help Marshall County get the money it needs.

"He was about to visit the Lake Texoma area in July and have a first hand look at the damage and see what had happened, so we’re very happy people will get the help they deserve," said Congressman Cole Press Secretary Liz Eddy.

Garvin, Johnston, and Love Counties were also approved for federal assistance to help repair public infrastructure damaged during the storms.

So ole' Senator Cole is taking credit for this declaration?? Even his staff member said, "He was ABOUT to visit Lake Texoma in July ..." About to?? He doesn't even know where any county south of Moore/Norman is, and he's taking credit. Isn't politics wonderful. Our Chamber pushed this issue numerous times and never gave up. THEY deserve the credit, not a Senator who was "about to" visit the area!!
