Record money raised

SHERMAN -- The Area Agency on Aging and Disabilities of Texoma is celebrating a record setting fundraiser from this past weekend. Officials with the organization say they raised close to $20,000 during their Second Annual Texoma Caregiver Celebration Walk.

The money will be used to help those who take care of patients suffering from Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. Officials say they had participants travel as far as 300 miles for the event.

They say they appreciate all the support.

"Thank you so much. They have to know that 100% of the money will go to the cause, 100% is going back to the community, to these engineers," says Texoma Council of Governments Alzheimer caregiver specialist Nora Habal.

Officials they plan on holding the event again in 2008.
