SHERMAN -- The Texoma Regional Blood Center is doing their part to remember 9/11, while helping the community at the same time.

Officials with the center say they are still critically low on all types of blood, especially O-positive and A-positive.

Those who come by the municipal building to give blood on Tuesday will receive a book looking back at that fateful day in 2001 and a free t-shirt.

Officials say it’s their own way of remembering those who lost their lives.

I worked for a corp in Sherman when TRBC came in for donations. It was my turn and the phlebotomotist did not wear gloves. I asked her to put some on, she said "they" did not bring enough. This is an OSHA violation and a violation to my privacy. Needless to say, I have never voluntered my blood with this company again, and I did not donate that day either. While I agree the donations are for a wonderful cause, I advise to come better prepared next time. Good Luck.
