SHERMAN – Firefighters in Sherman took a moment Tuesday to remember those who lost their lives six years ago.
Firefighters across the area paid tribute to the men and women of New York and all over the United States who lost their lives trying to save others on September 11, 2001.
On Tuesday at 7:47 a.m. Central Standard Time, the Sherman Fire Department paused for a moment of silence outside Central Fire Station to both honor and remember those who so bravely gave all.
Sherman Fire Chief J.J. Jones said, "This is usually our time to remember the firemen, the policemen that perished on 9/11, but there were 2,800 citizens that died on that day as well. That conflict is not over. So for us to pause and take a few minutes to remember what it means and the risk we take everyday."
Chief Jones says this annual tradition will continue for years to come.
