New victim notification system in Carter Co.

CARTER COUNTY, Okla. -- Crime victims in Carter County can now obtain vital information about criminal offenders in their area. The Oklahoma 'Criminal Tracking and Victim Notification System', or 'VINE', is an automated service which allows victims of violent crimes to learn the custody status of criminals in the justice system.

The Carter County Domestic Violence Task Force brought the service to the county, and they held a workshop for residents explaining how 'VINE' works on Wednesday.

Coordinator Jennifer Taylor says, "If they are a victim of a violent crime, they can get that notification call, have a safety plan, and sense of empowerment."

Local law enforcement officials also attended the workshop.
