School makeover

DENISON, Tex. -- It's the oldest elementary school in Denison, but Layne Elementary looks as good as new. School officials say with a little bit of paint and some decorations, the kids are now excited and proud of their school.

The school principal says the project started about a year ago when a local artist volunteered some of her time to help paint some of the classrooms.

"It's unbelievable the kind of comments we get from parents when they come in and look at our school, and people come in and look at it and can't believe how warm and welcoming it is here," says Layne teacher Susan Lovell.

The bathrooms, library, and even the counselor’s office are decorated in kid themes to make the students feel more comfortable at school.
