TOM BEAN, Tex. -- A celebration was held at Tom Bean Elementary School on Friday morning. The school was awarded exemplary status by the State of Texas.

A plaque was handed over to Principal Eric Hough on Friday morning. Over 300 kids sang and gave a presentation in celebration of the accomplishments.

Hough says that 90% of the students passed the TAKS test, which is the state’s way of testing 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th graders.

Hough says the school’s TEA campus rating has been improving over the past two years.

I just want to say thanks to the teachers at TB Elementary! This just goes to show how special they are. They pour their hearts and souls out daily taking the time to teach our children. They do not get the credit they deserve! So once again, I say thank you.
