A Sherman soldier and his unit stationed in Iraq will be getting some much anticipated mail in a couple weeks. The local police association along with The Grayson County College Golf Course teamed up and shipped out eight cardboard boxes full of golf balls to the troops on Friday.
Hitting golf balls is a favorite activity of these soldiers stationed in the Middle East, and while they do have clubs, golf balls are few and far between.
The soldiers sent a letter to the college looking for any spare golf balls. Now, thousands of them will be headed overseas.
Some third and fourth graders at Howe Elementary School also sent along some letters of encouragement in the packages.
