BLANCHARD. Okla. -- On Saturday, General Tommy Franks joined Chief Greg Pyle and the Choctaw Nation, honoring Specialist Tony K. Burris for his bravery during the Korean War.
A statue was unveiled in downtown Blanchard, Oklahoma, by members of his family. Burris, who died in 1951 is the only Choctaw to be cited with the Congressional Medal of Honor.
On Sunday, Choctaws will be recognized in the dedication of the WWII Choctaw Code Talker Exhibit at the Texas Military Forces Museum in Austin, TX.
