SHERMAN, Tex. -- Area law enforcement plan to tailor a program to find missing senior citizens. The Texoma Council of Governments hosted a meeting on Tuesday with several of the police chiefs and sheriffs from Cooke, Fannin, Grayson counties and even some representatives from Oklahoma.
They want to amend the state Silver Alert program to fit this region. Officials say some of the state rules make it difficult to sound the alert, so they would like to adjust the system to this area.
"I think the intent of the legislation is good but the practicality of it is that we need to make some changes," Grayson County Sheriff Keith Gary said.
The officials plan to meet soon to draft the Texoma version of the Silver Alert.
