SHERMAN, Tex. -- It's been happening for generations-- kids avoiding their parents when it comes to their grades. But that's all about to change in Sherman.

School officials say new software will allow parents to log on and view students’ grades on the internet. Students in all grades will receive a password to log on and check their marks.

Superintendent Al Hambrick says it's also a great way for parents to track their kids’ progress. Hambrick says the program should be up and running sometime in October.

The link will be on the Sherman ISD’s website. Click here to visit Sherman ISD's website.

NEW THIS YEAR ON KXII.com

Check out our Schools Page at kxii.com/schools. It contains links to all the local schools in the area so you can see what's going on at your kids' school.

How do you think parents being able to access their kids' grades will affect the kids' performance?

Amen Anonymous, the childish remarks on here the last few weeks makes our entire area look silly. While we sit here and act and talk stupid the world is watching and getting a poor view.

Would ya'll shut up with that "my town is better than yours" and "I am better than you" crap. Seriously grow up and start setting examples for your children and teach them to work together and be happy for another's accomplishments.

FYI people: Progress reports ARE what tells you how your kids are doing. It's hard to see how this will be implemented since the district's computer problems have kept progress reports from going out. Denison may have had this technology before Sherman (and yes we can pay lunch money online), but at least we're not squabbling about a half torn down dilapidated building.

Sherman is far behind on some things. 3 year ago , I watched with envy how my friend could pull up her kids grades in Denison... Come on, Hambrick! Get with it! Bring us into the tech age. Don't let every ISD around us leave us in the dust!

Finally. It's about time. Denison has had this for 2 years. Thanks for giving us access.

Yes, glad to see Sherman is catching up. We definitely won this Battle of the Ax. This year we have added the capability of handling lunch money online. Does Sherman have that yet?

Denton has had a system like this for 2 years. I (MOM) love it! Unfortunately for my kids, I know their test scores before they do sometimes.
