(AP) -- SAN FRANCISCO - There are new fears about the quality of produce after a recall involving Dole's salad mix. After a package of Dole salad mix sold at a store in Canada tested positive for E. coli, Dole has issued a voluntary recall in at least nine states.
The recall comes after a recent Associated Press investigation found that government regulators never acted on calls for stepped-up inspections of leafy greens after a nationwide spinach scare about a year ago.
A Dole spokeswoman says the latest recall affects all packages of Hearts Delight sold in the United States and Canada with a "best if used by" date of September 19th, 2007, and a production code of "A24924A" or "A24924B.
