HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) - Two escapees from the Wynne Unit have been caught after a guard died today when she was run over by a stolen pickup.

Authorities say inmate John Ray Falk was nabbed shortly after fleeing a work detail near the prison north of Huntsville.

Jerry Martin was caught about two hours later -- up a tree, after search dogs picked up his scene.

A prison spokeswoman says after the inmates took the truck, they at some point stole another vehicle -- and ditched it, too.

Martin had been imprisoned since 1997 and was serving a 50-year sentence for attempted murder out of Collin County.

Falk was serving a life sentence since 1986 for a Matagorda County murder.

Both were working in a field along Interstate 45 when 59-year-old guard Susan Canfield was overpowered and run over.

Canfield had been a corrections officer for seven years.
