DURANT, Okla. -- A Durant family of four received the keys to their brand new home on Quail Ridge Drive on Tuesday.

Organizers celebrated the achievement along with the new owner Brandy Robinson. Robinson is a single mom with three kids. She applied for the self-help housing so she could finally own her own home for the first time.

Applicants help build the houses to reduce or eliminate the closing costs, which most lower income families cannot afford.

Little Dixie has built over 1,000 homes in five counties since 2003.
