ADA, OK -- Ada residents gathered at Wintersmith Park Thursday for some fun outdoor activities to celebrate the holiday.
The Ada Kiwanis Club hosted the day long celebration.
Plenty of food and activities kept the celebration going with train rides, mini golf, and carousel rides for the kids.
One veteran, who recently returned from Afghanistan, shared why spending the holiday with family and friends was more special this year.
"It's a little different once you've went and served, and you've seen the stuff that us veterans went through and seen," said veteran Franklin Pursiville. "You come back home and you appreciate things a little bit more."
The celebration ended with a fireworks display at the park.
