ADA, OK -- Ada residents will soon be seeing an increase in some of their utility fees.
Tonight the City Manager met with the Ada City Council to present the final rates for water and sewage fees that are charged by the city.
According to City Manager, Cody Holcomb, the water and sewage fees will increase by two percent.
He said the city follows the Consumer Price Index Urban, or CPI-U, which measures the cost of business and cost to provide services for the city, and reports from last year helped indicate the increased rate.
"The CPI-U attempts to measure what that cost is," said Holcomb. "So therefore that cost for us to provide those services is going up, and therefore our revenues need to go up to counter those increase costs."
Holcomb said the increased rates will be effective in July.
