The Ardmore School Board decided to try a program to provide breakfast to all the district's students.

The board approved the Universal Breakfast program for one year.

The superintendent said the district is reimbursed by the federal government for every breakfast they provide students.

Universal breakfast could bring in $350,000 in reimbursement of which $100,000 could go back to the district.

But superintendent Sonny Bates said it's about much more than money.

"The optimal time for learning is in the morning, and if you're learning on a full stomach it's even better," said Bates. "So it's a win-win for kids."

Bates adds that any extra money would be spent on child nutrition.
