(SHERMAN, TEXAS) -- A benefit was held Saturday for a Grayson County family that lost their home in a fire earlier this month.

The Johnson family's Luella home burned to the ground on November 16 just hours after the homeowner, Brian Johnson suffered a stroke.

Saturday, a benefit was held at the Sherman Elk's lodge to raise money for the family who didn't have home insurance and are struggling with the medical bills.
There was a 5k fun run, dominos and pool tournments, a silent auction, and a barb que dinner.
Family members and friends helped organize the event and say they just want to show support for their loved ones.

The stroke caused swelling in Johnson's brain..doctors also discovered two holes and two blockages in his heart.

The family says they are struggling to finance the medical bills and the rebuilding of their home.
If you'd like to help the Johnson family, an account has been set up at the American Bank of Texas in both Sherman in Denison.
