BONHAM, TX -- Residents in Bonham approved a $7 million school bond Saturday.

Results show 844 people voted for the bond, while 566 voted against it.

Bonham Superintendent Sonny Cruse says the bond will pay for renovations at I.W. Evans Intermediate School.

The money will build eight new classrooms, a bigger gym, and updated facilities. Cruse said the bond means higher taxes, with the average homeowner paying an additional $2.33 per month.

A $25 million bond was voted down twice last year.
