ADA, OK -- This year marks the 10th anniversary of the annual Ada Air Expo and Ray Stout Memorial Warbird Fly-in, and Chairman Don Childers says this year will be special.

"We're gonna celebrate and honor some of our veterans with really historic aircraft," said Childers. "We're hoping that some of the younger generations can get acquainted with this aircraft because it's very, very important to American history."

Several World War II aircraft will be featured including the B-17 bomber, Texas Raiders, which is one of only 11 B-17 bombers still flying today.

Coordinator Frank Stout is the son of Ray Stout, the show's namesake and World War II veteran, says there's no better way to appreciate the history of these planes than getting see these them in person.

"On Memorial Day they only show the movies and they see them but they can't really appreciate the beauty and magnificence of these planes," Stout said. "And I think this gives everyone the opportunity to come out and experience history."

Airport manager, Terry Hall, says it s a great way to honor all veterans.

"The air show gives us the opportunity to say thank you to our veterans and current men and women in uniform and to showcase many of the aircraft that those men and women flew," Hall said.

The expo will kick off on Friday, June 7th, as the aircraft fly in to the airport.

Saturday, there's an aerobatics air show, aircraft tours and rides, tandem skydiving jumps, and activities for the kids.

Admission to the Air Expo is free, but spectators will have to pay a 10 dollar parking fee.
