DENISON, TEXAS -- A mother is facing five felony charges after allegedly fleeing the scene of an accident she caused, leaving her 3-year-old in the car alone.

Lt. Mike Eppler with Denison police says just before one o'clock, that woman and her child were heading south on Brown Street when they hit a car in the other lane, almost head-on.

Three adults were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Eppler says the woman took off, leaving her young daughter in the car.

She's charged with driving while intoxicated with a child, abandoning a child and three charges of intoxicated assault.

"After the accident happened, the driver of the suspect vehicle fled the scene on foot, leaving a small child in the vehicle. She was apprehended just a couple blocks away," Eppler said.

The suspect is being booked into the Grayson County Jail.
