SHERMAN, TEXAS -- Grab your green and get geared up for Sherman's fourth annual St. Patrick's Day Block Party this Saturday.
"I'm not Irish but I like to have a cold beer once in a while," T.J. LaRosa with Fulbelli's restaurant said.
Event organizers are making the final preparations, hoping to draw residents downtown for music by Beyond the Pale, comedy from Bill Chesnutt, food from local restaurants, a best dressed competition and of course -- green beer.
"Well last year we closed Wall Street down and we had a band outside and we had a lot of vendors come out," John Arriazola with Lupe's Tamales said.
Last year the party was here in front of Lupe's Tamales.
"1,100 to 1,200 people came out. So hopefully this year, they're going to have it downtown on the square, and hopefully we'll have that same amount of people this year. Hopefully. Or maybe even more," Arriazola said.
This year, they're adding a $25 wine stroll around the square.
Colette Robinson, who recently opened Vintage Salon and Boutique on the square, hopes events like these are not only fun, but also bring more business to downtown Sherman.
"I would love to see it turn into a bustling downtown where you just see people shopping and walking and just enjoying the day," Robinson said.
Other downtown business owners agree.
"Anything bringing people to the downtown area, trying to revitalize it, is a positive," LaRosa said.
The party is $5 for those over 18 years of age and free for kids. It'll begin at 6 on Saturday.
Don't forget to wear your green!
