Fannin County Deputy Wayne Walker laid to rest

(BONHAM, TEXAS) -- Friends and family members filled Bonham High School's gym Saturday afternoon to remember fallen Deputy Wayne Walker.

Law enforcement from surrounding departments and all the way from McKinney were also at the service to pay their respects.

Walker died Wednesday in a Dallas hospital after suffering a stroke during a routine dialysis treatment.

After the funeral Deputy Walker's end of watch was played over radios and police scanners.

"Deputy Wayne Walker you have ended your tour of duty here..we will remember your warm smile, laughter and compassion. Deputy Wayne Walker know that your strength and honor will live on in your wife and family... And that your honor will live on in the rest of us. Rest in peace"

Walker spent 17 years with the Fannin County Sheriff's Office and leaves behind a wife.

A scholarship fund has been set up in Deputy Walker's name at Fannin Bank in Bonham.
