GRAYSON CO, TX-Several Grayson county fire departments rushed to a house fire near Tom Bean early Tuesday morning that destroyed a family's home.
Amanda Morrison woke up early that morning to the sound of sirens.
"For a long time I saw lights going by, they were flashing and stuff and I wasn't really sure what it was. I mean I knew big trucks were going by at some point," she said.
At around 2:15 a.m., Tom Bean Assistant Fire Chief Jason Lankford said they found the home in the 1300 block of Homer Smith Road engulfed in flames. They had to call several other fire departments for mutual aid.
"Upon arrival on scene, found a fully involved structure fire, they immediately started a defensive attack," he said.
Lankford said firefighters were able to contain the blaze within 30 minutes, but the house was a total loss.
Morrison said she knows the family who lives in the home.
"I know they had been devastated for them to lose everything because what they had they worked really hard for," she said.
Lankford said the family was able to get out of the burning home without injuries. The cause of the fire is still unknown. He said the Red Cross was on scene to help assist the family.
"The fire's under investigation currently with the Grayson County Fire Marshal. He's doing the investigation to determine a cause," he said.
