SHERMAN, TX -- Members of the Grayson County Law Enforcement Association celebrated Saturday, while also raising money to help the family of a fallen deputy.
The group held it's 3rd annual picnic with plenty of music, food and dancing. A bake sale, silent auction and raffle giveaway were held.
All the proceeds will benefit the Deputy Chad Key Memorial Fund. Key was killed in the line of duty while directing traffic last month. His co-workers and many community members are continuing to help his family.
"We are a family in law enforcement. So, it's been very tough on all of us. Chad worked in the jail with the corrections officers there. They became very close. When he came on patrol with us we became a close-knit family as well and he's very missed. Very missed," patrol deputy James Scott said.
If you'd like to donate to the Key family, a fund has been set up in his honor at Landmark Bank branches.
