GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- The search continues for an elderly Grayson County man who went missing near Pottsboro Friday evening. As crews continue their quest to find the man his family is stuck waiting hoping for the best.
About 100 people joined Saturday's search for 83-year-old Enoch "Dickey" Dixon. His son Jimmy says he noticed his father was missing around 5:15 Friday evening. After conducting his own search with no luck he contacted authorities.
"They got out here about 8 o'clock started the search, decided to bring in the bloodhounds from the Bonham prison. The helicopter from Garland flew in to take inferred images. Didn't do any good," Jimmy said.
Jimmy says father suffers from Dementia and had recently spoke of wanting to go back to his old hometown of McKinney.
"I think he walked out to the road. Somebody picked him up, but whoever did I hope they don't hurt him. Hope they bring him back," Jimmy said.
Saturday agencies including the Grayson County Sheriff's Office, Locust Fire Department and Grayson County Emergency Management combed the area near Dixon's home in the 2300 block of Flowing Wells Road.
"We've had a few leads that we've been checking out. It's a big area to cover so trying to do the best we can," Sgt. Joe Ross, with the Grayson County Sheriff's Office, said.
"They've been up all night basically, two or three hours sleep and back up and helping again so I just can't thank them enough," Jimmy said.
As they search for his father, Jimmy says he is holding on to hope.
"I'm a nervous wreck," Jimmy said. "I don't know what to do. I just hope wherever he's at somebody sees this, recognizes him and contacts us."
Dixon is 5'8 and weights around 185 pounds. He was last seen wearing jeans, a denim shirt, work boots and a gray hat.
If you see Mr. Dixon you are asked to call 911.
