GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- County commissioners have given the Grayson County Health Department a thumbs up to buy chemicals to fight the West Nile Virus. Those chemicals are used to keep mosquito larvae from growing in standing water.
John Teel, with the Health Department, says the chemicals will be available to all Grayson County cities in a few days. Teel says the virus seems to be dying down, but there are still infected birds and mosquitoes.
"None of us can relax. We have to use the four D's, protect ourselves. Essentially don't get bitten until after about the second hard freeze," Teel said.
Teel says the chemicals cost more than $11-thousand dollars.
