High speed chase through Sherman

SHERMAN, TX -- Sherman Police tried to pull over a stolen truck around 11 this morning. That's when the driver took off, running from police, and hitting speeds of 100 miles per hour.

Sherman Police Sgt. D.M. Hampton says officers chased 47-year-old Cartwright resident Daniel Keigley through northwest Sherman before he headed North on 75.

He says DPS troopers put out spike strips on highway 75, which caught his left front tire, forcing him to eventually stop along highway 84.

Hampton says officers fired shots at one point, and they're still investigating if Keigley fired any shots, as well.

He says Keigley allegedly rammed into police cars, badly damaging at least 3.

"Right now he's looking at 4 counts of aggravated assault against a peace office with a deadly weapon, two counts of theft over $1,500 under $20,000, and the charge of evading arrest or detention with a motor vehicle," said Hampton.

Hampton says Keigley was arrested without incident once officers caught up to him. He says neither Keigley, officers, nor civilians were injured.
