GRAYSON COUNTY, TEXAS -- Family, friends and officers across the region gathered in Sherman today to remember and honor Grayson County Deputy Chad Key, who was killed in the line of duty on Saturday.
Hundreds attended Key's funeral this morning at First Baptist Church in Sherman.
The funeral procession extended for miles, including police cars from as far north as Oklahoma City to as south as Houston.
Key leaves behind his wife and three sons, ages 20, 10 and two and a half months.
"To Colt and Seth and Lance, his three sons, one day, you're going to look back on this and you're going to know how important your dad was and what he did to this community and the citizens of Grayson County," Lt. Rickey Wheeler, with the Grayson County Sheriff's Office, said.
A fund has been set up for the Key family at Landmark Bank locations.
