Multiple agency police chase ends with arrest in Sherman

(SHERMAN, TEXAS) -- A high speed chase ended in Sherman Saturday night, now a Mesquite man is behind bars. Police have identified the suspect as 28-year-old Mark Rushing.

Authorities say he's facing multiple charges Including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police say Rushing was driving a stolen vehicle and led multiple agencies on a chase from Collin County to Sherman.

Justin and Bonnie Williamson were planning a quiet night at the movies Saturday night. When things took a scary turn. The couple suddenly found themselves in the midst of a high-speed chase on northbound Highway 75.

Bonnie Williamson, " and I was like uh-oh..and then noticed that there were like three more cop cars coming up and the truck was right there coming..and he came up almost rear ending them."

Van Alstyne Police say they received reports of a hit and run off highway 75 in Collin County when they located the suspect's vehicle.
Officers say they attempted to pull Mark Rushing over but say he didn't stop. Authorities say Rushing hit another vehicle of FM 1417 and the chase continued.

Williamson says she's lucky she and her husband weren't hit, "well I was scared when I slammed on my brakes..i thought he was gonna hit us or the car in front of us or both of us of us or all 3 of us.."

Police say they deployed Stinger Spike strips at Lamberth Road and Highway 75, they say that lead the suspect to get out of the vehicle and flee on foot. The pursuit ended moments later.

Police say Rushing was arrested near T-Mobile and McAlisters off highway 75.He was booked into the Grayson County Jail. Officers say there have been no reported injuries caused by the pursuit.
