VAN ALSTYNE, TX -- The city of Van Alstyne swore in it's new mayor Tuesday.
Teddie Salmon was sworn in during a special city council meeting. Salmon says she's been a Van Alstyne resident all her life, and her father served as the city's mayor so that sparked her interest in government. And she isn't a stranger to the title either.
"I became mayor in 1993 and served till 1999. And I really missed it. I have missed the people and the communication and the working with the different organizations," Salmon said.
She says her goal is to get more residents involved in city government and help boost morale.
Russell Moore and Billy Plake began their duties as councilmembers tonight as well.
