SHERMAN, TX -- The Sherman school board voted to go forth with a waiver that will combine bilingual classes at Sory Elementary.
Assistant Superintendent Dr. Tyson Bennett says they are having a tough time finding a qualified third bilingual ed teacher so they plan to combine Sory's three bilingual classes into two. Dr. Bennett says that will put one class just over the 22 to one student teacher ration, so the district will ask the Texas Education Agency to waive that ratio.
Dr. Bennett says once they hire a teacher to fill the spot they will go back to three classes.
