DURANT, OK -- Students and faculty celebrated Founder's Day at SOSU.
The school hosted the event celebrating Southeastern's history.
It included a program in the afternoon...and a peach cook-off, since the university was founded on a former peach orchard in 1909.
Faculty member, Vicki Hudson, says it's important to recognize the past achievements that make their university great.
"It's very important to know where our roots are and where we've come from and the sacrifices that people made in order for us to enjoy this beautiful campus," Hudson said.
This is the second year the school has hosted the event and it was open to the public.
