SHERMAN, TX -- The Sherman Service League presented checks to 16 area agencies Monday night. The non-profit raised $62,000 dollars at their 58th annual Charity Ball.
At Monday night's meeting -- held at the Finley Cultural Center -- the Service League dispersed funds to agencies like Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity and the Pregnancy Care Center. Charity Ball Chair Keri Lowry says some of Grayson County's agencies would not survive without the community's help.
"Like the Friends of the Pottsboro Library they have no funds that come from the government whatsoever so they completely rely on the monies that they receive from us, Lowry said.
Agencies have to apply to be eligible for funds raised by the Sherman Service League. The organization is accepting applications in June.
