SHERMAN, TX -- Two Sherman women now face several charges after leading police on a chase Wednesday.

Sherman Police say investigators were at Kohl's Tuesday afternoon looking into shoplifting cases, when officers saw 21-year-old Shamarae Hopkins and 21-year-old Joylette Blanton stuffing shoes and clothes into their bags.

When the two left the store an officer approached them and identified himself. That's when police say the suspects took off running, got in their car, and drove toward the officer -- nearly hitting him.

The chase ended on Sara Swamy Drive where the two were arrested.

The driver, Hopkins, is being charged with aggravated assault of a police officer. Bond has been set at $1,500 each.
