ATOKA COUNTY, OKLAHOMA -- A McGee Creek State Park Ranger will not face charges after being involved in a shooting that killed a park-goer.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says around 10 p.m. on May 4th, the ranger got into an altercation with a man camping at the park.
Authorities say the man, David Adam Patrick Maher of New York, was acting strangely and causing a disturbance. When the ranger approached him, Maher allegedly ran to his vehicle and attempted to run over the ranger.
OSBI says the ranger shot him more than one time.
Atoka County Sheriff Tony Head says District Attorney Emily Redman has decided to not file charges against the ranger.
