VAN ALSTYNE --- The city of Van Alstyne says its losing money from sports teams outside of the city that utilize their facilities.
Currently the Parks and Recreation Board allows any team to use their facilities at no cost.
The city is considering a new proposal that would impose a fee for teams outside of the Van Alstyne sports authority to use their sports facilities.
"The fees would mainly be for out of V.A.S.A. teams. The church teams, the kids who come here just to practice. If somebody from out of town want to have a tournament and didn't have a ball field of something like that," said Vicky Cupit, secretary for the Van Alstyne Parks and Recreation Board.
A fee structure has not been decided yet and the city council will consider the proposal next month.
