Wapanucka city officials sign agreement with Choctaws and Chickasaws

WAPANUCKA, OK-The Wapanucka city council announced a plan Tuesday night that they hope will help solve their ongoing water problems.

City officials signed an agreement with the Chickasaw and Choctaw nations Tuesday to drill three test wells to find out if the city has ample groundwater. Mayor Sue Standifer said both nations agreed to pay for the entire cost of the project, which is $18,000. She said the test drilling will help the city decide if they'll drill new wells or buy water from Atoka.

We attended the council meeting, but none of the city council members would answer our questions on camera. We'll continue to follow this story.
