Texoma Medical Center, Denison, Texas
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Grayson County will hold a kickoff for the annual event on January 20th, 2015 at 6:00pm at Texoma Medical Center, Denison, Texas. The Society is inviting people who are interested in learning more and getting involved in the event to attend.

The kickoff program will honor cancer survivors and caregivers and feature the Society’s mission to save lives from cancer. The special speaker for Kick Off will be Tom Miller, KXII. Attendees will have the opportunity to register a team for the Relay For Life event, which will be held May 8th, 2015 at 7pm at Scott Middle School Track, Denison, Texas.

Relay For Life is a community event where teams and individuals camp out at a school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team has at least one participant on the track at all times and participates in fundraising that supports the American Cancer Society’s mission to save lives and finish the fight against cancer. Four million people participated in more than 6,000 events worldwide in 2014. Last year, 653 people participated with 169 survivors in Grayson County and raised $87,689.92.

“The Relay For Life movement unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all,” said Kendra Sikes, Relay For Life Community Champion, Heritage Park Surgical Hospital. “This is our community’s opportunity to fight back against cancer.”
