HOUSTON (AP) - The estate of one of 17 people killed on a trip to a religious festival has filed a lawsuit against the driver, owner and manufacturer of the bus that blew a tire and skidded off the highway.

The lawsuit filed late Monday in Harris County seeks unspecified damages, and is at least the second lawsuit stemming from the Aug. 8 crash in Sherman that injured the 38 other people on board.

The suit was filed on behalf of Cham Nguyen, a parishioner who was killed when the bus operated by Angel Tours crashed on its way to Missouri. Federal investigators say the bus had blown a tire that had been illegally refitted with new tread.

The passengers on the bus were members of a Vietnamese Catholic group.

Repeated attempts by The Associated Press to reach Angel de la Torre, owner of the bus company, have been unsuccessful .

I agree that the owner of the company should face charges. Honestly till I knew something was up with the driver I would not blame him, he can't help it if a tire blew out, could happen to anyone, even you! I'm not saying the driver should have been allowed to drive if his credentials were out but the guy didn't blow out the tire. Now then as far as sueing the manufacturor of the bus, what the heck, they didn't make the retread? Bottom line is really in all of this is that people in this country are money hungry and looking for any excuse to sue someone to get, its not going to bring the loved one back, I do think that the Owner of the bus tour company should be held responsible. Reminds me of all the stuff I read on the 9/11 attacks on the lawsuits there. It is written that the love of money is the root of all evil, Look around and you will see alot of evil these days.

This will be stuck in the courts for years to come. The company will probably declare bankruptcy and never pay a cent! If that's the case, then those involved should have to pay with time served in the pen!
