VELMA, Okla. (AP) - Authorities say a small earthquake shook parts of southern Oklahoma, but no damage was reported.

The U.S. Geological Survey says a 3.1-magnitude quake struck about 10 p.m. Monday near Velma in northern Stephens County.

Residents in northwestern sections of neighboring Carter County also reported feeling the tremor.

Researcher Amie Gibson with the Oklahoma Geological Survey Observatory says an earthquake of that magnitude was unlikely to have caused any significant damage. Tremors of this size are among
the smallest generally felt by people.

On Saturday, a 3.0-magnitude quake struck 18 miles east of Oklahoma City.
