DECATUR, Texas (AP) - An explosion during welding on some tanks
at an oil and gas site in rural Wise County has left two workers
burned.
Wise County Fire Marshal Marc Dodd says the accident happened
Friday during work to install several tanks south of Decatur, about
35 miles northwest of Fort Worth.
Four tanks burned or suffered other damage in the explosion
reported around midday Friday, in which brightly colored flames
rose from the top of one of the tanks. The fire was out within an
hour of when it was reported to emergency personnel.
Dodd says the explosion was linked to welding. He says both
workers suffered what initially was thought to be minor burns.
Dodd says one of the workers had trouble breathing and was
transported to a hospital in Dallas. The other burned worker was
getting treatment at a hospital in Decatur.
