DALLAS (AP) - Officials believe icy roads from a
first-day-of-spring snow caused an accident that killed one person
and closed an interstate in the suburban Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Arlington police spokeswoman Tiara Ellis Richard said at least
five vehicles and two 18-wheelers were involved in the wreck
Sunday. One of the 18-wheelers fell onto another vehicle, resulting
in the fatality.
The accident happened along Interstate-30, shutting down the
westbound highway. One of the 18-wheelers was on its side blocking
all three lanes of traffic, with the cab hanging over a concrete
divider onto the shoulder of the eastbound lanes.
Richard said icy road conditions were a factor.
College tennis matches at Texas A&M and Baylor were moved
indoors because of the cold weather.
