Suspects sought after child gets alcohol poisoning
Several Sheriff's Deputies rolled up to serve a search warrant at a home on Sawmill Road in Durant on Monday morning. What they found inside landed five people behind bars on several drug charges. Lieutenant Brian Fowlkes says this was not the first time law enforcement has been to this home. "Once we made entry into the house, we located multiple glass smoking devices, bongs, tubing, red dye phosphorus and other things inside the residence," said Folkes. Chief Deputy Steve Nabors says catching the suspects off guard was important to keep the team safe. "We don't know how many people will be in a place that we are going to. We do it as a surprise tactic just to make sure its safe and we try to catch people off guard that way. It's an officer safety issue," said Nabors. About a dozen deputies were on scene to keep the situation from escalating. "Our main objective is securing that immediately. That way, hopefully we don't get anybody hurt. Us or the suspects that we are dealing with," said Nabors. Nabors expects the District Attorney to file charges on all five suspects soon.
