Train Derailment Blocks Road

Video will be available shortly.

7-15-05 - Four cars from a freight train derailed just west of Bells at the North Washburn Road crossing just north of Highway 56.

The Grayson County Sheriff says no injuries have been reported. The cars were carrying gravel but did not turn over. Apparently, the cars came off the tracks and dug into the North Washburn Road crossing. This crossing is the main feeder road that citizens have been using to get around the construction of the new bridge on Hwy-56. This road may be closed for some time until repairs can be made.

Deputies advise drivers take an alternate route of highway 56 to Craft road, then go north to Watson road and turn east to North Washburn road. From there, go south to McFarland road and go east. This will take you to highway 69 in Bells.
