8-29-05 - As Hurricane Katrina takes aim on the Gulf Coast, Oklahomans are preparing to render aide to those in harm's way.
Governor Henry today instructed state authorities to be prepared to deliver whatever assistance is needed in the wake of the potentially devastating storm.
Henry -- in Georgia for the Southern Governors Association Conference -- says officials are closely monitoring the situation and waiting to act on any requests for help.
The governor says Oklahomans know all too well the devastation that Mother Nature can inflict on lives and property.
Henry says Oklahomans have benefited from the help of friends and neighbors throughout the United States and the world and stand ready to help them in their time of need.
