7-17-05 - A small boat capsizes on Lake Texoma in Marshall County Sunday night with nine people on board. 38-year-old Ruiz Santos was taken to the hospital and 7-month-old Yadira Ibarra little girl was taken by medical helicopter to Dallas Children's Hospital.
Marshall County authorities say 2 families from Whitesboro were on board the small boat when a large wave capsized the boat. All 9 people on board, including 5 children, went into the water. Only two of them were wearing life jackets.
Another boat saw the people in the water and called authorities. The 18-month-old girl was not breathing when she was brought on shore. A woman gave the toddler CPR and got her breathing before medics arrived. Santos, the driver, was taken to Marshall Memorial Hospital where he is listed in fair condition. The other 7 people on board were not injured.
The incident occured near Woods Island, just off the Buncombe Creek Marina in Marshall County.
