Weather Aware conditions continue overnight due to the potential for locally heavy rainfall. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect until 7 a.m. for the northernmost portions of Texoma including Atoka, Coal, Johnston, Murray and Pontotoc Counties Beware of flooded road-ways and never drive around barricades or into water more than six inches deep. 7-18-05 - A two-story house fire is being blamed on a lightning strike on the north side of Ardmore. It happened around 4:30pm off Majestic Hill Road.
Four people lived in the house. One was home when the lightning bolt hit. He told investigators he heard crackling noises and when he went outside, he was smoke billowing from the upstairs of the house.
Firefighters from Ardmore and Dickson were able to contain the flames within 45-minutes. Firefighters credit their ladder truck with saving the 1st floor of the home, because they were able to attack the flames from above.
